Accessibility is a right. Don't make your users fight for it.Accessibility is often referred to as "rules based" and is therefore less subjective than (say) usability. Now you can ensure that all your online communications are fully accessible.
There are three very compelling reasons to ensure your website is as accessible as possible :
1) The business case : You will reach far more people with a website that is easy to read, navigate and access If 20% more people could access your website without difficulty, what would that mean in terms of additional revenue and bottom line?
2) The legal case : The law is now being enforced more rigorously and you can avoid costly and unnecessary litigation for the sake of due diligence.
3) Social responsibility: Just because something is made law, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done even if the law was not there! All businesses have a moral obligation to ensure that every member of society has as much access as possible to their information and technology and to ensure that no-one is unnecessarily excluded or denied access. So by keeping your website accessible you are showing that you care about your duties as a responsible company.
Of course, technology is updating and changing all the time. It is important that we remember in our haste to make things betters, faster, more productive etc that human beings with human challenges need to keep up with it all.
Consequently, it is a good idea to have periodic checks of your products and services plus your website and other communications to make sure that what may have started out as compliant has not been updated or changed to the point where the compliance policy is obsolete or that your communications now fall short of the standards you'd like to maintain.
We will work with you to make sure that you make your website and other communications conform to the relevant guidelines, standards and best practices. |
